Sport is in our blood.

As a family, sport and being active has always been part of the daily routine and has shaped our lives. In his younger years my grandfather, Archie, successfully competed at a wide range of sporting events at the North and South Uist Highland Games.

Archie’s competitive edge rubbed off on my father Neil, who developed a passion for football. Neil went on to have a very successful local footballing career, and became one of only four Ness players to have won the prestigious Highland Amateur Cup on four separate occasions.

Neil McRury and his three sons Scott, William & Donald, line up on the same side for Ness F.C. in 2001.
Both my grandfather and my father have clearly had a big influence on me as sport has shaped my life and it’s this passion for sport and getting people active that led me to start Active Hebrides.
